In an interview with FightHype, former world champion Floyd Mayweather shared his thoughts on the stance of the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 168 lbs), Saúl Álvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), on not boxing against WBC "interim" champion David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs).
"Fighters should do what's best for them and their career. You have to live with the decisions you make. Canelo is a future Hall of Famer. I wish him nothing but the best.
Benavidez? If David continues to defeat fighter after fighter, champion after champion, he will become the one fighters line up to challenge. I've been in that situation. You just have to wait your turn," Mayweather said.
Throughout his professional career, Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) has never lost a fight. His last match was against Conor McGregor, which he won by a unanimous decision from the judges. Nowadays, Floyd participates exclusively in exhibition matches. His most recent was on June 11th against Don Gotti III, ending in a massive brawl when, after the match was stopped, John and his friends attacked Mayweather's team with punches.
