The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has invited the teams of former junior welterweight champion Subriel Matias (21–2, 21 KOs) and Gabriel Valenzuela (30–3–1, 17 KOs) to begin negotiations for an eliminator bout, according to Ring Magazine journalist Jake Donovan.
The winner would become the mandatory challenger for the IBF world title currently held by American Richardson Hitchins (19–0, 7 KOs).
Back in November, Matias avenged his loss to Liam Paro by knocking out Roberto Ramirez in the second round.
In October, Valenzuela secured a unanimous decision victory over Jesus Lopez Perez.
