Subriel Matías to Defend Title Against Dalton Smith

In the early hours of 13 July, Puerto Rican puncher Subriel Matías (23-2, 22 KOs) out-pointed Dominican fighter Alberto Puello (24-1, 10 KOs) to capture the WBC Super-Lightweight crown (63.5 kg).

Moments after the win, Matías took part in a staredown with Britain’s unbeaten WBC Silver champion Dalton Smith (18-0, 13 KOs).

The 33-year-old Matías will make his first defence on 22 November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of “The Ring IV,” headlined by David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde.

Turki Alalshikh: “You’ll face Smith in November for the world title.

Subriel Matías: “Looking for an action fighter? I’m right here!

According to The Ring insider Mike Coppinger, the winner of Matías vs Smith will then meet Alberto Puello.

Reminder: In New York on 13 July, Matías edged Puello by majority decision—scores: 114-114 and two cards of 115-113 for the Puerto Rican.
