Malinaggi on Ennis: "He Was Denied the Chance to Achieve Greatness"

Former boxer Paul Malinaggi has shared his thoughts on the career of IBF interim welterweight (up to 66,7 kg) champion Jaron Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs). Malinaggi believes that the American fighter deserves better recognition and opportunities.

"Jaron Ennis had to wait his turn. They didn’t give him the fight when it was the right time. Now, he finds himself in a position where his career is mismanaged. He's really left with nowhere to turn regarding the respect he deserves and getting big fights during his prime.

It’s one of the sad stories in boxing. Jaron Ennis was denied the chance to achieve greatness. He’s now in a weight class where he can win titles, but I don’t know how meaningful that is.

Comparing the current welterweight scene to what it was just a couple of years ago, Ennis should have been part of the mix, but they didn’t allow him to step up due to the political side of boxing. It's a shame, but does Ennis really have a choice? It must be very frustrating to be Jaron Ennis and his team," said Paul Malinaggi.
