Paul Likes the Revamped Anthony

In an interview with ProBox TV, Paulie Malignaggi commented on the victory of former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou (0-2, 0 KOs).

"Joshua didn't seem all that confident until Ben Davison came into the picture. For me, that was a winning combination. It's not just that he beat Wallin; it's how he did it. He came out and dominated in that fight.

After the second knockdown, Ngannou got up differently than after the first. The first knockdown got his attention. It made Ngannou think, 'Wow, this is real.'

Before the first knockdown, Ngannou was aggressive, throwing a few uppercuts and power punches. Joshua remained calm.

The first knockdown took away Ngannou's enthusiasm. The second made him wonder if he even wanted to be there. The third left no doubt in his mind—he wasn't thinking anymore.

Joshua approached the fight with Ngannou already knowing what he was going to do. People forget this, but Joshua also has power. He's a heavyweight who knows how to hit and how to use that power," Malignaggi said.

The fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou took place on March 8th in Saudi Arabia. Already in the first round, Joshua knocked down his opponent. In the second round, the British boxer ended the contest by knocking Ngannou down for the second time and then finishing him off with a single punch.
