Malignaggi Suggests a Test for Morrell Before Canelo

Former world champion Paul Malignaggi discussed whom he believes Cuban WBC interim super middleweight champion David Morrell (10-0, 9 KOs) should face next.

"Plant is the only one who has fought both top names of the division. He's faced both Benavidez and Canelo. I might favor Morrell over Canelo, but before that, I want to see David fight Plant. Caleb has already been at the top of the division, and David is just knocking on that door. He needs a lift-fight, and a meeting with Plant could be just that," Malignaggi explained.

In 2023, Morrell fought only once, achieving an early victory over Sena Agbeko. Caleb Plant, in his last match, lost by decision to David Benavidez.
