Malignaggi Answers Whether Usyk Should Retire

Former world champion and now boxing analyst Paul Malignaggi shared his thoughts on the future of undisputed Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk.

According to Malignaggi, the Ukrainian has already achieved everything necessary to secure his place among the greatest fighters in history — and should start considering retirement.

*Who am I to tell a grown man what to do? But I’ll say this: in my opinion, he’s done everything perfectly. So well, that it’s unlikely he can achieve anything that makes him even greater in boxing history, right?

Those who think he’s better than Ali are already convinced. And those who don’t think he’s better than Ali — no future victory from Usyk will change their minds. He’s almost reached the ceiling of how people will perceive him.

Again, I’m not the one who should tell a grown man to retire, but personally, as a fan, I’d like to see him walk away,” Malignaggi said.

In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) knocked out Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to reclaim the undisputed title. Recently, the Ukrainian said he plans to box until the age of 41.
