Madrimov Defeats Kurbanov to Claim New WBA Title

In the undercard of the clash between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou, a fight for the WBA super welterweight title (up to 69.85 kg) took place between Uzbekistan's Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) and Russian boxer Magomed Kurbanov (25-1, 13 KOs).

The contest concluded with a technical knockout in favor of Madrimov in the 12th round. He is the new WBA super welterweight champion, a title previously held by Jermell Charlo.

In his previous fight in the spring of 2023, Madrimov won by a decision against Raphael Igbokwe. Kurbanov had outboxed Michel Soro in the spring of 2023.
