Luis Ortiz Scores First-Round Knockout

On the night of September 20 at Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, USA, 46-year-old Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz (35-3, 30 KOs) faced 40-year-old American Phillip Penson (8-5-3, 2 KOs).

The bout ended in the very first round — Ortiz dropped his opponent three times, and after the final knockdown, Penson was unable to beat the count. KO 1.

For Ortiz, this marks his second consecutive early victory — in January 2024, he also scored a first-round knockout against Francisco Cordero.

Penson, meanwhile, has now gone six fights without a win (five losses and one draw). His last victory came back in October 2014.
