Erickson Lubin Explains How the Ortiz Fight Ends: “One Way or Another — I Don’t Care”

Junior middleweight contender, 30-year-old American Erickson Lubin, has promised to defeat WBC interim champion Vergil Ortiz, whom he faces on November 8 in the United States.

“When I beat a guy like Vergil, I pretty much take his place.

I’m one of the top fighters in this division. I feel like a lot of people try to avoid me or underestimate me. I’m just glad Vergil accepted the fight.

He had a list of names he could have chosen. I respect him for that. We’re both in our primes. We’re not waiting for someone to get old or stop ducking just because the money’s not right. This is going to be one of those historic fights.

Most likely, I’ll knock him out. Or I’ll win on points — I don’t care. The main thing is to go home with the victory. After this fight, people are going to stop talking about Vergil. They’ll be talking about ‘The Hammer’,” Lubin said.

In his previous fight, Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) stopped the previously undefeated Holmes. Ortiz (23-0, 21 KOs) most recently outboxed Israil Madrimov.
