López: "I Can Fight Crawford Right Now"

WBO junior welterweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Teofimo López (21-1, 13 KOs) is willing to move up two weight classes to face WBA super welterweight champion (up to 69.9 kg) Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).

"Now that we have Riyadh Season, why not make a fight between Crawford and Teofimo? We're already in position. Make it happen.

More money doesn’t create more problems. More money creates more boxing.

I can move up to super welterweight. And I will. Just give me a date. I’m already weighing 70 kilograms, I can fight Crawford right now.

I didn’t expect age to catch up with Crawford so quickly. I thought it would happen at 38, not 36.

Everyone had high expectations for Crawford—he himself had high expectations against Madrimov. But this is boxing, and things like this happen. Maybe it will be a lesson for him. He couldn’t figure out his moves and feints. Maybe he shouldn’t have taken so long to get back in the ring (his previous fight with Errol Spence took place in July 2023). But to each their own. I wasn’t Terence Crawford in that fight. I’m Teofimo, and I’m looking forward to facing him next year," López said.

In June, Teofimo López won a unanimous decision against Steve Claggett (38-8-2, 26 KOs). On August 3rd, Terence Crawford won a unanimous decision against Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs).
