Teofimo Lopez, the reigning WBO welterweight world champion, has shed light on the critical error committed by Vasyl Lomachenko during his bout against Devin Haney. It's worth noting that Lomachenko suffered a contentious defeat, with the judges' decision favoring the American boxer.
According to Lopez, Lomachenko himself is to blame for the loss, as he made a crucial misstep in the 12th round. In Lopez's view, Lomachenko should have pressed the fight with more aggression instead of relying on an assumed lead.
"Haney didn't win the fight against Lomachenko. The problem with Loma is that he slowed down in the 12th round, thinking he already had the victory in the bag. I believe Lomachenko won 9-3 or 8-4 in terms of rounds," Lopez remarked.
Lopez also shared his firsthand experience of facing both fighters, stating, "I fought against Lomachenko and sparred with Devin. I knew that the 12th round would be crucial."
