Lomachenko: "Now Everyone Wants to Fight Me"

Former three-division champion Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) recalled a time when no one wanted to fight him and shared why things have changed now.

"I was the guy who wanted to conquer the world. I was very close to the undisputed title but lost. I wouldn't want to end on that note.

I remember a time when no one wanted to fight me. Right now, of course, everyone wants to fight me because I've gotten older. But I'm still dangerous; I still have speed, power, and status. I just want to show myself as best as I can.

I love this sport, I love competing. For me, it's not just a street brawl; it's hard work. I think I don't need to prove anything now. I just want to show myself as best as I can and show again who I am in boxing.

In pro boxing, there are four belts. We can't talk about four different world champions. In boxing, there's only one champion - the undisputed champion.

I had a chance; I missed it. On paper, I'm not undisputed, but deep inside… If we're talking about Teofimo - okay, it was a close fight. But if you remember the fight with Haney - it wasn't a close fight. I know I beat him. People know that outcome, know it was a robbery.

The fight with Kambosos is very special for me. He's a true warrior, and of course, I want to win for my motivation," said Lomachenko.

On May 12 in Perth, Australia, Lomachenko will face George Kambosos in a fight for the IBF and IBO lightweight titles (up to 61.2 kg).
