Loma vs. Gervonta May Lead to Middleweight Title Fight

Boxing Scene journalist Lance Pugmire reports that while negotiations continue for a fight between WBA lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) and IBF titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), another high-profile bout might be organized.

The founder and head of the Top Rank promotional company, Bob Arum, told the journalist that he is also aiming to arrange a unification fight in the middleweight division (up to 72.5 kg) between IBF and WBO champion Janibek Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) and WBC titleholder Carlos Adames (24-1, 18 KOs). The fight is possible on the condition that Janibek defeats Andrey Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KOs), whose bout is scheduled for July 13 in Las Vegas, USA.

Previously, the boxers sparred on Twitter about the fight. Adames claimed he was not afraid to fight Janibek, while Janibek called for a contract to be sent to him. Later, Carlos was elevated from "interim" to full WBC champion.

Janibek Alimkhanuly won by technical knockout over Vincenzo Gualtieri (22-1-1, 7 KOs) in October, and Carlos Adames defeated Terrell Gausha (24-4-1, 12 KOs) by unanimous decision on June 15.
