'A bit unfair.’ Former UFC champion Michael Bisping reacts to Usyk-Fury fight penalties

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has reacted to the news that Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) have an obligation to pay a $10 million compensation if either of them cannot make it to the fight on May 18:

This is good. I like this. Obviously, it shows that both of them are eager to have this fight. They want to solidify their legacy as the best boxers of their generation and take all the belts.

But it's a bit unfair to Oleksandr Usyk because he's not the one pulling out of the fight. The reality is, Tyson refused. Legitimately refused. Unplanned, not his fault. It was an unfortunate incident, but he withdrew.

Now, if the same thing happens to Usyk, as he too could get a cut in training, he faces a potential fine of $10 million.

But he didn't do anything. So if he accidentally gets a cut, it's a $10 million fine for him,’ Bisping said on his YouTube channel.

Recall that the new condition in the contract is that the penalty for the inability to hold the fight will be imposed on the one who cannot participate in the match on May 18 for any reason.

The fight was postponed twice before: from December 23 to February 17 and from February 17 to May 18. Both times – due to injuries to Tyson Fury.
