The last undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg), Lennox Lewis, shared his thoughts on WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
«I love Usyk and think he’s a great champion. He was the undisputed champion at cruiserweight, now he’s trying to become a two-time undisputed champion. It’s always challenging, but if anyone can do it, it’s him.
The fact that fighters are smaller doesn’t mean they are bad. Usyk moves well, feints, and throws combinations – that’s what you need at this level to be great. He can never be intimidated. You can never intimidate an undisputed champion because he knows what it means to be one, and he likes that position. He doesn’t know how to be number 2, he only knows how to be number 1,» said Lewis.
Twenty-five years ago, Lewis became the undisputed heavyweight champion by defeating Evander Holyfield in their rematch. Since then, no one has held the title of undisputed world heavyweight champion. However, on May 18, Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) will compete for this title.
