On the night of May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the bout between Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for the undisputed heavyweight championship took place. The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with Usyk winning by split decision.
Former undisputed champion Lennox Lewis commented on whether he considers the Ukrainian the greatest champion in the heavyweight division.
"His story in the heavyweight division is still being written, but I think nobody can take away his incredible achievements. An Olympic gold medal. Undisputed champion in cruiserweight, and now the undisputed champion in heavyweight. Definitely a rare accomplishment," Lewis wrote.
Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, who achieved the feat by defeating Evander Holyfield in a rematch on November 13, 1999.
