Lewis: "Fury Fought Like He Was Winning"

On the night of May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) faced Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion of the world (over 90.7 kg). The bout lasted all 12 rounds and ended with the Ukrainian's victory by split decision.

Former undisputed champion Lennox Lewis commented on the reasons for the Briton's defeat, highlighting that after a close round, a fighter should not assume he has won it but instead prepare for the worst-case scenario.

"Fury fought as if he was winning the fight. No boxer should think or say he has won the bout. Every time a round is close, they should consider it as a loss," Lewis said.

Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis himself defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
