Lewis Against Itauma Accepting Usyk Fight

Former undisputed Heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis explained why 20-year-old British prospect Moses Itauma is not yet ready to face three-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

“Too early. Better to wait. Wait until he [Usyk] retires.

Usyk won’t be in the ring forever, and then you can take your chance. Right now it doesn’t make sense — you’re still learning, still gaining experience. You need to wait for the right moment.

You can never rush. If you rush, it can cost you dearly in your career. So it’s better to take your chance when it’s really there, when you’re ready,” said Lewis.

Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) knocked out Dillian Whyte in his most recent bout. Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) became undisputed for the third time in his last fight, stopping Daniel Dubois.
