Lennox Lewis Picks His Favorite for Usyk–Fury Rematch

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has shared his thoughts on the favorite in the rematch between WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and former champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

Every heavyweight fight always has drama. In this one, since Tyson Fury lost last time, there will be drama. He’s coming in for the win.

Oleksandr Usyk knows this. He doesn’t want to give up the victory, so he’ll have to work even harder to make sure it doesn’t happen. I can’t bet against Oleksandr Usyk—he’s an undisputed champion in two weight classes.

Now, the situation is that he has to keep Tyson Fury at a distance. But to keep him at a distance, Usyk still has to attack. He has to move forward and try to win this fight,” Lewis said.

The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is scheduled for December 21 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In their first bout, Usyk won by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years. The last fighter to achieve this feat was Lennox Lewis, who defeated Evander Holyfield by unanimous decision in a November 1999 rematch.
