Lapin: “If Jake Had Come to Boxing Earlier, He Would Have Reached a Serious Level”

The CEO of Oleksandr Usyk's team, Serhii Lapin, shared his thoughts on Jake Paul's current boxing level following the American's fight against Anthony Joshua.

Boxing doesn’t forgive mistakes.

For many athletes, it’s a lifetime commitment.

Hundreds of amateur fights, dozens as a professional — years, sometimes decades of work.

You can’t just step into this sport and skip the path you didn’t walk.

You can make a show.

You can play around boxing.

You can call yourself whatever you want.

But if you want to reach a serious level and truly chase the top,

lying to yourself that you’re “the best of the best” becomes dangerous.

Boxing is hard, titanic work.

A system. Discipline. Thousands of details and factors that must come together for results to exist.

And there’s another side that almost no one talks about.

Many fighters — even high-level ones — go through this path, break down, suffer injuries, become disabled.

They don’t earn big money.

They don’t become stars.

No one writes about them.

They simply chose the path of a boxer — and paid the price.

Against that background, Jake Paul is clearly in a strong position from what’s happening today.

And I’ll say this honestly: if he had come into boxing earlier, he could have reached a truly serious level.

I see good reflexes, coordination, and solid mental ability in his actions.

In boxing, nothing is impossible.

And he still has time to try to reach his dream,” Lapin said.

Joshua knocked out Paul in the 6th round. Jake sustained an injury—his jaw was broken in two places. Anthony prepared for this fight with Oleksandr Usyk's team.
