Sergey Lapin: "If Fury Continues to Run, We Have a Replacement Clause"

Sergey Lapin, CEO of the team of WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and co-founder of the Ready To Fight platform, mentioned that WBC titleholder Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) could be replaced by Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) in the fight against the Ukrainian.

"I hope Usyk gets the chance to settle scores with Fury on May 18, but if he continues to run, we have a clause in the agreement to replace Fury with Filip Hrgovic. Hrgovic is the alternate opponent, so the show will go on regardless of whether he fights, as also confirmed by Turki Al al-Sheikh.

Moreover, just imagine for a second, he got a cut through a helmet on his head and in large training gloves — can you imagine what will happen to his head when he receives a bomb from Usyk in a ten-ounce glove?

If Fury finally decides to step into the ring on May 18, it will become his nightmare; he has never in his life fought a boxer of such caliber.

Ngannou showed Fury for what he is: a fighter with too much mileage, a fighter who has had too many fights, and a fighter who is now rapidly declining to the extent that sparring partners are giving him a lot of trouble," Lapin said in a comment for British Boxing News.
