After battling WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) to a draw, American boxer Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) shared his thoughts on the fight and made it clear—he's ready for the biggest challenges in boxing.
Roach revealed that his top priority is a rematch with "Tank." However, if that doesn’t materialize, he’s setting his sights on another elite opponent—the reigning WBC champion, Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs).
"Gervonta is a real one. Competing in the best fights—that’s exactly what I want. As I’ve said before, I hope we get the rematch. If not, then I’d love to step into the ring with Shakur because we’ve already talked about it.
It’s all about proving who’s the best. It’s all about real competition. That’s what I do—I’m here to prove I’m the best," Roach declared.
"Yes, sir," Shakur Stevenson responded, reaffirming his willingness to face Roach in the ring.
For reference, on March 1, Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach fought to a D-MD 12—a majority draw after twelve rounds, leaving the question of supremacy unsettled.
