Promoter of the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and CBDO Ready To Fight, Alexander Krasyuk, discussed the rematch of his client against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
«This is the date we considered, and it is the date we confirmed with His Excellency, and we gave our word that the rematch will take place on December 21. It is scheduled for December 21, but dealing with our opponent, you never know how it will work out, so we are not focusing on the date.
Why is the rematch not in October? That was a working date we considered as one of the possible days for the show, but in our initial agreement, we had a deadline until the end of the year, so this fits that agreement.
We haven’t had any discussions about Usyk retiring. Maybe there were rumors, maybe someone else expressed their thoughts, but we never discussed it. For us, this issue is not a problem,» said Krasyuk.
On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision and became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Usyk is the first undisputed champion in this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
