Krassyuk: «I Watched Usyk’s Legs, Not His Face»

The promoter of the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and CBDO of Ready To Fight, Alexander Krassyuk, shared his feelings about the sixth round of his client’s bout against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), in which the Ukrainian boxer took a series of heavy punches.

«At one point, when Fury landed a dangerous uppercut or hook, he caught Usyk very hard. For a second, it was like, ‘Ufff.’

I wasn’t watching Usyk’s face, I was watching his legs, and he started moving. For me, that was fine. I thought, this guy has to survive this round, and he did.

Oleksandr had a similar moment in the ninth round of his rematch with Anthony Joshua. When he survives a round, I have no doubt about what will happen in the next because this guy has character. I’ve seen him in sparring. When he takes a hit in sparring, he never just lets it go. He always comes back and gets revenge. That’s what he did,» said Krassyuk.

The fight between Usyk and Fury lasted all 12 rounds and ended with a split decision victory for the Ukrainian. Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
