“It Was the Right Time to Step Away”: Krassyuk Explains Split with Usyk

Former promoter Alexander Krassyuk—who guided Oleksandr Usyk to undisputed heavyweight glory—has opened up about why their collaboration ended.

“I sensed the moment. It was the right time to leave. I wished Usyk well on becoming a three-time undisputed champion and said I would remain the lifelong promoter of a two-time undisputed champion.

Will I reveal the reasons behind the split? I will—but I’ll save them for my memoirs,” Krassyuk said.

Usyk and Krassyuk cut ties on the eve of the Ukrainian’s clash with Daniel Dubois, held on 19 July at Wembley Stadium in London. In that bout Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) knocked out the Briton in the fifth round, becoming an undisputed world champion for the third time. (Full fight statistics available via the link.)
