Krassyuk: «No Reason for the Rematch Not to Happen»

Promoter and CBDO of Ready To Fight, Alexander Krassyuk, shared insights on a potential rematch between the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

«We are people of our word. When we give our word, it’s not just about the paperwork. If we shake hands and make a promise, we usually follow through. We had a rematch clause in place, discussed it preliminarily even before reaching any agreements. So, I see no reason why it shouldn’t happen, especially from Usyk’s side. It’s 100% clear, there’s no doubt about it.

The date of the rematch is a question. We can’t determine it yet because both fighters need to spend some time with their families after their medical check-ups. Tyson, though he got a cut, has been in training camp, and before that, he was preparing for the fight with Ngannou.

Usyk was preparing for Tyson, then for Dubois, then a short break, and again Tyson, Tyson, Tyson. We need to respect that and give the guys a proper rest. If we want to see a good rematch, we have to give them time to recharge,» said Krassyuk.

The fight between Usyk and Fury went the distance and ended with a split decision victory for the Ukrainian. Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
