Wilder Was Mentioned Among Opponents for Klitschko’s Potential Return

Agit Kabayel, the interim WBC heavyweight champion, has shared insight into the whispers surrounding a potential comeback for former unified champion Wladimir Klitschko — including a possible showdown with Deontay Wilder.

There was an amount of money mentioned that would make some people fall off their chairs and say, ‘That’s a money fight — take it, do it.’

I really have to ask myself how much money matters to me. Would I say, ‘Okay, now I’m focused on the money’?

For me, sport has always been the priority. I wanted to be a world champion, a world champion, a world champion — and nothing else.

From what I know, it has been discussed. I can only judge based on the people I’ve spoken to, but I know this topic isn’t entirely off the table.

For example, Deontay Wilder’s name came up as a potential opponent — for a fight in Germany. These are still just backstage discussions, nothing concrete yet,” said Kabayel.

Wladimir Klitschko hasn’t fought since his 2017 loss to Anthony Joshua, but talk of a comeback resurfaces regularly — particularly around the idea of breaking George Foreman’s record as the oldest heavyweight champion in history.
