Klitschko on the Flash Drive With His Prediction for the Joshua Fight: "Fake News"

Former unified world champion Wladimir Klitschko responded to questions about a flash drive containing his prediction for his bout against Anthony Joshua. The drive was supposedly sewn into the robe he wore to the ring. Later, Anthony Joshua claimed he knew its contents and even revealed what he said was on it.

- Before the fight with Joshua, there was an interesting story about the robe and a flash drive with a prediction you recorded for that fight. Later, Joshua revealed what was on the flash drive. He said it was basically a documentary of the fight and quoted you saying something like: "I’m going forward, trying to knock him out, but during one of my attacks, he catches me and knocks me down." Did you feel something before that fight that made you say such a thing? You were close to winning, but then things turned out differently. Can you tell us more about that prediction?

- Was the information from the flash drive published anywhere?

- Publicly – no. Only Joshua mentioned it.

- Joshua can’t say that. He didn’t know what was on the flash drive. He didn’t buy that robe. The one who bought it is the one who has the information from the flash drive. So what you said is fake news. Joshua cannot know what was on the flash drive. Only two people know that: me, who recorded it, and the person who bought the robe. I know who bought it.

- Is that information classified? It’s not published anywhere?

- It’s up to that person to decide whether to make it public or not. I’m surprised they haven’t shown it publicly yet. I won’t reveal what was on it because that would break the rules. I said that whoever gets the robe also gets the information on the flash drive. Everything else is just opinions, nothing more.

- Is that person from Ukraine or abroad?

- That person is from abroad.

- And you don’t want to reveal who it is?

- I have no right to reveal it, because then people would start asking him questions. So the one who won the robe at auction should handle any requests—either show it, release it, or not.

- So what Joshua said was on the flash drive is not true?

- I confirm that. I never heard what Joshua said, but Joshua cannot know what’s on that flash drive.

- Maybe the buyer showed him?

- Joshua cannot say what’s on the flash drive, because he didn’t buy the robe.

This fight took place in April 2017—Wladimir Klitschko lost to Anthony Joshua by 11th-round TKO.
