Klitschko: «Eagerly Awaiting the New Undisputed Heavyweight Champion»

On the night of May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a fight for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world (over 90.7 kg) will take place between WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

Former Ukrainian world champion Wladimir Klitschko commented on the fight and expressed his confidence that Usyk will win and become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years.

«This is my first visit to Saudi Arabia. I am eagerly awaiting Saturday’s fight, a historic unification bout, the first since 1998 or 1999 when Lennox Lewis fought Evander Holyfield, and this is an incredibly exciting and anticipated event.

I am eagerly awaiting a new undisputed heavyweight champion from Ukraine, Oleksandr Usyk. Even though Fury has a size and reach advantage over Usyk, technique decides everything in a boxing match.

I am confident that Oleksandr will outsmart Fury and become the new undisputed world champion. On one hand, size matters, but on the other hand, technique decides everything. I believe there is no more technically skilled boxer than Oleksandr Usyk right now,» said Klitschko.
