"King Slayer." Joshua and Dubois on the Megafight

Today, June 26, a press conference announced the bout between Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and IBF heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs). The fight will take place on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK.

During the official event, the fighters shared their thoughts about the upcoming fight.

Daniel Dubois: "I'm learning more about myself as a fighter and as a person. Emerging from the darkness, moving towards the light. Improving as a fighter, as an athlete. Striving to be the best. To fight the best, to beat the best. AJ has been the king for a long time. I need to become the king slayer. That's my mission."

Anthony Joshua: "I haven't mentioned Daniel Dubois as often as Fury or Wilder, but I'm not stupid. I know the rules of the game. In boxing, the laws of the wild apply. We are a pack of lions, we are hunters who have to keep our eyes open. I can't focus on just two fighters and not worry about anyone else. I've never taken my eyes off Daniel and other heavyweight boxers. So whoever my opponent is, I'd be ready to fight in September."

Promoter and Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn stated that it's only a matter of time before Joshua becomes the undisputed world champion.

"We have a dream - to become the undisputed champion, and it will happen. It's not 'if' or 'maybe'. And there's no plan, no contract for a fight with the winner (of the Usyk-Fury fight). It will just happen. He will win this fight, and then he will beat the winner of the rematch. But right now, he's just focused on September 21. I have these crazy dreams that have to come true. Because I see it, I feel it, I breathe it, and I can't wait," said Hearn.

Anthony Joshua last fought in March against Francis Ngannou (0-2), winning by knockout in the 2nd round. Daniel Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic (17-1, 14 KOs) by technical knockout in the 8th round on June 1.

Eddie Hearn revealed that Dubois and Joshua nearly came to blows before the official press conference.
