Oleksandr Khizhnyak, the silver medalist of the 2020 Olympics in the weight category up to 75 kg, won the Ukrainian boxing championship in a new weight for himself.
The championship was held in Ivano-Frankivsk. In the final in the weight category up to 80 kg, Khyzhnyak won by points over the bronze medalist of the 2022 European Championship, Ivan Sapun.
The youngest world champion in the history of Ukraine, Yuriy Zakharev, sensationally lost in the final of the 71 kg weight category. In terms of points, he lost to Maksym Molodan.
Based on the results of this championship, the composition of the national team of Ukraine will be formed, which next year will defend the honor of the country at the European Games in Krakow, the World Championship in Tashkent, and will receive licenses for the Olympic Games in Paris-2024.
