American lightweight prospect Keyshawn Davis (11-0, 7 KOs) has shared his ambitions to become the best fighter across three weight divisions. Should he claim victory over his upcoming opponent, Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs), Davis plans to challenge Ukrainian WBO lightweight titleholder Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs).
"I’m going to show the world that I’m the best in the lightweight division (up to 61.2 kg). Once I do that, I’ll move up to super lightweight (up to 63.5 kg) and do the same, then to welterweight (up to 66.7 kg).
I’m going to prove I’m the best in lightweight, starting Friday. After this win, I’ll definitely be the mandatory challenger for the WBO title, and who’s the current WBO champion? Denys Berinchyk. He knows what’s coming. He’s ready. He told me to win this fight so we can face off, and I’m doing it for him," Davis told Fighthype.
Keyshawn Davis and Gustavo Lemos will meet on the night of November 9 in Norfolk, USA.
In May, Denys Berinchyk won the vacant WBO world title by split decision over Emanuel Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs). According to preliminary reports, Berinchyk's next bout is set for December 21 against Joe Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs) on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury event.
