Former WBO lightweight titleholder Keyshawn Davis, 26, says he’s on the brink of ending his pro-boxing career.
“The ‘Businessman’ is done—he’s gone. If you want me back, hit up my promoter. Talk to the decision-makers; say, ‘We need the Businessman back in the ring.’ At this point I’m damn near retired. Boxing’s slowed down a bit, so you could say I’m just about finished.
I’ve already bought a house, so all I need to do is pay the mortgage. I don’t have to stress about returning to the ring. I don’t know when I’ll be back—or whether it’ll be at super-lightweight or lightweight,” said Davis.
On 7 June, Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) was slated for his first title defense against Edwin De Los Santos, but he failed to make weight the day before. The fight was scrapped, and Davis was stripped of his belt.
