Key Rounds in Usyk – Fury Fight: Ali Bashir's Take

Former trainer of WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), American James Ali Bashir, shared which rounds will be crucial in the Ukrainian’s bout against Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

«Throughout the entire training camp, I would tell him: "Whoever wins the first four rounds secures the victory in the fight."

I expect Oleksandr Usyk to use the left overhand. Tyson seemed vulnerable to this particular punch in his fight with Otto Wallin, so I would employ that strategy – plenty of overhands after jabs.

He should jab to Tyson's chest, and right after that, throw an overhand left. If he manages to open up one of the cuts, it will be good for him because it will slow Tyson down a bit – not to mention if he opens multiple cuts.

If Usyk can win these rounds, I am confident he can secure the victory in the fight. He can secure the win based on four or five rounds. Whoever wins the first four or five rounds is likely to win the battle,» Bashir said.

The fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship will take place on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.
