Welterweight boxer Karen Chukhadzhian explained why he believes Jake Paul’s involvement in boxing is beneficial to the sport.
- Do you watch fights like Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson?
- No, I didn’t watch it. I don’t have that kind of attitude toward Jake Paul—like calling him a ‘clown’ or anything. Not at all. He’s great. He’s popularizing the sport. I think a lot of young people look up to him, and maybe some will even start boxing because of him.
But as for this fight, I didn’t see any intrigue. Come on, Tyson is pushing 60—how old is he now? Almost 60? If he wasn’t showing his prime level in 2005, what could you expect from him in 2024?
Thank God he wasn’t knocked out. He got through it, boxed, and deserves respect for that. But we don’t need to see more of this.
- Do you think people will question Jake Paul until he starts losing?
- Well, he wants to become a world champion, right? For example, he boxed pretty well against Tommy Fury. Honestly, I didn’t think he lost that fight. He has a certain level. I think he can box at a high level, Chukhadzhian said.
