Australian IBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) commented on Ryan Garcia's (25-1, 20 KOs) failed doping test prior to his fight against WBC super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs).
"If this is all true – you're a piece of shit. This sport is dangerous enough, and you saw how Devin suffered in that fight. I thought he was fighting on instinct after he got hit in the 1st round.
The fact that he went 12 rounds, went down and kept getting up, just shows what a warrior he is," said Kambosos.
On May 2, it was revealed that Ryan Garcia failed doping tests taken just before his bout against Devin Haney. The fight took place on the night of April 21, in which Garcia defeated Haney. Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion, as Ryan did not make weight and was not eligible for the title.
On May 12 in Perth, Australia, George Kambosos will defend his title against Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs). The vacant IBF title will also be on the line in this fight.
