IBO lightweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) commented on his upcoming fight against Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs). The Australian expressed his hope for Lomachenko to be in top form, aiming for a victory so decisive that it leaves no room for doubt or excuses.
"Lomachenko is incredibly talented. He has excellent footwork and a high boxing IQ, so I'll need much more than usual. I have my own attributes too. I have speed, explosive power, but I also have a damn big heart. I have the will and motivation for anything that might happen in the fight.
I am ready for whatever it takes to win. I'm excited. I hope that my opponent is now in the best shape and also hope that after the fight, he will have no excuses. For me, there can only be one outcome – victory. Deep down, I'm a true warrior, and I'm here for a real fight," said Kambosos.
The bout between George Kambosos and Vasyl Lomachenko will take place on May 12 in Perth, Australia. Alongside the IBO belt held by the Australian, the vacant IBF title will also be on the line.
