Interim WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel revealed why his fight against former world champion Daniel Dubois did not take place.
“When a fight is announced, I don't like to talk about anything else. Regarding the situation with Daniel Dubois… he called me out. I said: ‘Yes, I want to fight Daniel Dubois,’ because that was the biggest fight available for me — Usyk was unavailable.
Then Team Dubois pulled out of the fight. George Warren can confirm that. We were ready, and I’ll repeat: I want to fight the best,” Kabayel said.
On January 10, Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) will face Damian Knyba.
In July, Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) was knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk in a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
