Justice Huni’s Team to Appeal Wardley Fight Result

Mick Francis, manager of Australian heavyweight Justis Huni (12-1, 7 KOs), has announced plans to appeal the result of the bout against interim WBA heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs).

The team is dissatisfied with the performance of referee John Latham, claiming that the count during the knockout sequence was too fast. Earlier, Huni’s promoter Eddie Hearn also criticized Latham’s officiating, stating that the count ended at nine, while the boxer was clearly in the process of rising to his feet.

To recall, the fight took place on June 7, with Wardley stopping Huni in the 10th round. At the moment of the stoppage, all three judges had the Australian comfortably ahead on the scorecards — 88–83 and two cards at 89–82.
