Adam Morrell, the manager of British heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce (16-3, 15 KOs), firmly believes that his client should not hang up his gloves just yet. He is confident that Joyce can still compete at the highest level in the heavyweight division (over 90.7 kg).
"Absolutely, Joyce should continue if he feels healthy. He's in better shape than most heavyweights out there.
We need to line up the right fights for him, but they should be against top fighters. Once Joyce's fights with top opponents become uncompetitive, then it might be time for him to consider retirement.
Joe shouldn't become a gatekeeper or journeyman—that's not his path. He should retire when he can no longer compete seriously at the highest level. A fight with Dubois would be very competitive," Morrell said.
In July, Joe Joyce lost by unanimous decision to fellow Brit Derek Chisora (35-13, 23 KOs), marking his third defeat in his last four fights. The 38-year-old boxer is now at a critical juncture in his career.
