Matchroom Boxing head and promoter of former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs), Eddie Hearn, claims that the match between his fighter and ex-champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) interests them regardless of the result of Tyson's rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
– I think the final decision on the Usyk vs. Fury rematch will be made in a few days. It takes time to accept defeat and assess injuries. We’ll see how things develop.
I believe Tyson will want to fight Oleksandr Usyk again. We saw a great fight. The rematch will be a huge event.
Joshua and I should focus on the next step. Joshua would like to fight Fury or Usyk. If not, then a decision on a fight with the winner of Hrgović vs. Dubois could be made next week.
– Do you still believe a Joshua vs. Fury fight can happen?
– We want to make the Joshua vs. Fury fight regardless of whether Tyson wins or loses the rematch. I think we will see that fight.
Obviously, we want Tyson Fury to win. I think he can do it; that would be the ideal scenario,» said Hearn.
Joshua's next fight is planned for early autumn 2024. Fury is expected to face Usyk for the second time in October, if the rematch is confirmed.
