Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua posted on Twitter about UFC champion Alex Pereira.
"Alex Pereira should debut in boxing one day."
The Brazilian unexpectedly responded.
"It is an honor that you think so. It has always been my dream. I'm 37 years old, I can't make a career out of it, so who do you suggest I fight?"
Pereira debuted in the UFC in 2021. Since then, his record stands at 8 wins, 6 of which are by stoppage, and 1 loss. Currently, Alex aims to move up to heavyweight. Pereira also regularly spars with heavyweight boxers – Zhang Zhilei and Demsey McKean have been seen in his camp. Before the UFC, the Brazilian fought in the kickboxing promotion Glory, where he was a champion.
The last UFC champion to debut in boxing was Francis Ngannou, who lost both fights. He first lost by decision to Tyson Fury, then by knockout to Anthony Joshua.
