Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has outlined the conditions under which his client Anthony Joshua could secure a title fight this fall.
"There has to be a process that you go through when someone applies for an exception to the rules. If someone does that, the process will take more than a week. So we need to see what happens.
It's very unlikely that the title fight will take place on Saturday (the IBF title fight between Hrgović and Dubois), but it's likely that the winner of this fight will face Anthony Joshua for the world heavyweight title in September. There are massive shifts around this fight," Hearn said.
The Hrgović vs. Dubois fight will take place on June 1 in Saudi Arabia. The winner will become a contender for the title currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.
The Ukrainian is set to have a rematch against Tyson Fury, and an approved date has already been set.
