Former undisputed world champion, Scottish boxer Josh Taylor, had revealed in an interview with The Herald his intention to return in 2024. His plans include three fights, a change in weight class, and a rematch.
According to Taylor, he plans to:
- Debut in the welterweight division in February 2024. Despite declaring he wouldn't change weight classes after a mid-2023 setback, Taylor's plans have now changed.
- Contend for the welterweight champion title in mid-2024. Jaron Ennis currently holds the IBF title, while Terence Crawford is the champion according to WBA, WBC, and WBO.
- Organize a rematch with British boxer Jack Catterall at the end of 2024.
The 32-year-old Taylor suffered his first career loss to Teofimo Lopez in the summer of 2023, leading the Scot to take a hiatus. Taylor faced Jack Catterall in winter 2022, winning but in an exceptionally challenging bout.
