Joseph Parker Reveals What He Wants to Display in the Dubois Fight

WBO Interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) spoke about how important his upcoming fight is against IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) in the same division.

By the time the fight date arrives, I’ll have been out of the ring for a year (11 months, to be precise). That doesn’t bother me. I’ve been training, and now that I have a big fight, I want to show something different in the ring. I want to display agility, aggression, power, speed—I want to show everything.

There’s a lot on the line. I have the chance to fight for the belt again. There’s a difference between fighting for it back then (December 10, 2016, against Andy Ruiz) and winning it. If I win the title now, I’ll value it more and want to hold onto it.

Right now, I’m living this life and loving what I do. Back then, I was still learning to understand myself and my life. I had a belt, some money, and I was enjoying it. Now I’ve got a wife, children, and I’m much more mature. If I win this IBF title, I want to keep it, then move on to bigger and better things,” Parker said in an interview with iFL TV.

The fight between Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois is scheduled for February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Parker last stepped into the ring in March, defeating Zhang Zhilei by majority decision. In September, Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round.
