Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs), the interim WBO heavyweight champion, says he’s eager to return to the ring soon — ideally as part of the July 19 undercard headlined by Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London.
“I want to get back in the ring as soon as possible. I know Usyk and Dubois are fighting on July 19, and I’d love to fight soon after that — or even better, on the same card. Queensberry has already mentioned that idea, so that would be great,” Parker told reporters.
As for possible opponents, Parker isn’t set on anyone yet — but he’s open to a range of names.
“The belts are all tied up between Usyk and Dubois, and who knows what kind of rematch clause is in that contract. But I’d like to stay active. Derek Chisora is looking for his 50th fight, and although I’ve beaten him twice, I’ve never had a trilogy before. Derek always gives it everything. That could be a great stay-busy fight.”
Parker also mentioned Dillian Whyte, Fabio Wardley, and Justis Huni, who are set to fight soon, as well as a potential rematch with Martin Bakole.
“Whoever is available, I’m ready. Like I said — if there’s no one else, Chisora is always game. He’s popular, has a big fan base, and wants that milestone 50th fight. After that, I’d like to get a shot at the winner of Usyk–Dubois.”
Parker also addressed the uncertainty surrounding the world titles.
“I’m not sure if it’ll be 2025 or 2026 when I get a title shot — it all depends on what happens with the belts. Whether they stay unified for another fight or get split up, that’ll determine everything.”
Parker’s most recent outing was a dominant second-round TKO win over Martin Bakole in February. Originally, Parker was set to face Daniel Dubois, but Dubois withdrew due to illness — leading to Bakole stepping in.
