Former heavyweight champ Joseph Parker is eyeing a 2024 rematch with British boxer Joe Joyce, unveiling his game plan with a hint of boxing bravado:
"Time for a rematch this year. The Joe Parker who threw down with Deontay isn't the same Joe who squared off against Joe Joyce. We need to dance again in the ring this year to gauge the two Joes.
I've been chasing a bout with Joshua, eyeing a rematch, but he's now tied up with Ngannou. We reached out, throwing our hat in the ring for a rematch, yet they had other plans in the works," Parker remarked.
At 32, Parker clinched a unanimous decision victory over Deontay Wilder on December 23 in Saudi Arabia, marking his fourth fight of 2023.
The Parker-Joyce clash in September 2022 saw Joyce scoring an 11th-round knockout victory. After that win, Joyce faced back-to-back early defeats against Zhilei Zhang. Frank Warren, the promoter, has yet to pin down when Joyce will make his ring return.
