Jonathan Gonzalez – interim WBA champion at light flyweight

In the early hours of January 4 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, an interim WBA light flyweight title bout (up to 50.8 kg) took place between Jonathan Gonzalez (29-4-1, 14 KOs) and Yankiel Rivera (7-1-1, 3 KOs).

The fight went the full 12-round distance and ended with Gonzalez winning by unanimous decision with scorecards of 116–111, 117–110 and 114–113.

Gonzalez last fought in October 2024, when he lost his WBO world title to Anthony Olascuaga by first-round TKO.

Yankiel Rivera is now winless in his last two outings — in August he was held to a draw by Angelino Cordova. This defeat is the first of the Puerto Rican’s professional career.
