British heavyweight Joe Joyce (16-3, 15 KOs) will not be facing Germany’s Patrick Korte (22-4-1, 18 KOs) as originally planned, Boxing Scene reports, citing sources within Queensberry Promotions.
The fight was set to take place on March 1 in Bournemouth, England, as part of the undercard for Ryan Garner vs. Salvador Jimenez, a bout for the European championship.
Joyce already has a fight lined up against Dillian Whyte on April 15. While he previously stated he would still compete in Bournemouth despite the upcoming clash with Whyte, sources have now confirmed that the 39-year-old will not step into the ring against Korte.
The reason for his withdrawal has not been disclosed, but his bout with Whyte remains on schedule.
